Product Details
Low density lipoprotein (LDL) is a spherical particle consisting of cholesterol esters in a core surrounded by a hydrophilic coat composed of phospholipids, cholesterol, and apolipoprotein B. It serves as the major transport protein for cholesterol in human plasma. Carbamylation is a modification of proteins that results from the binding of isocyanic acid due to high levels of urea. Carbamylated LDL is increased in patients with kidney disease who have elevated urea levels, resulting in atherosclerosis.
Our Human Carbamylated LDL ELISA Kit is a sandwich ELISA for the detection of human carbamylated LDL (CBL-LDL) in plasma, serum, and other biological fluids. LDL precipitated samples or standards are added to an anti-CBLantibody coated plate and incubated to capture carbamylated LDL. Next, a biotinylated anti-apoB-100 antibody is added, followed by a streptavidin enzyme conjugate for detection. The absorbance is read at 450nm and the level of CBL-LDL in samples is determined based on the provided CBL-LDL standard curve.
